Head of Network Functions and Security  

I am Darius Liubinas, leading the Core Services team in IT Infrastructure & Data at Telia IT. We are looking for a manager to drive the Network Functions and Security unit.

The unit manages critical platforms, services, and architecture within IT Infrastructure network services, including B2B services. It is essential to deliver RUN/GROW/TRANSFORM activities diligently and timely, requiring thought leadership and refined processes. The unit delivers IT Infrastructure solutions to Telia stakeholders, requiring strong communication skills and business understanding. We aim to improve time to market through self-service, automation, and process optimization, matching the ambitions of the biggest hyperscale’s.

As a Head of Network Functions and Security you will…

…lead a team of senior experts and be responsible for key results (OKRs), KPIs, and performance metrics to improve and enhance the unit. You will shape a high-performing team, improving our digital journey to provide simplified, standardized, and scalable products and services.

You will create a collaborative, target-oriented team that strives for better results and provides the best stakeholder experience. Additionally, you will partner with country CIOs and peers in IT and NSD.

The objectives are to align with the strategic priorities and goals of the organization and its stakeholders, ensuring value delivery by meeting customer and stakeholder expectations for both standard and non-standard core services. This involves close cooperation with the business to identify and understand requirements, translating them into actionable developments. Additionally, the role includes negotiating, agreeing upon, and maintaining SLAs, OLAs, and underpinning contracts with the business and third-party support organizations.

A key focus is on developing and enhancing the self-service delivery experience while optimizing the use of resources and assets through existing and emerging technologies. Ensuring the security, reliability, and resilience of platforms, integrations, and services is crucial, following best practices and industry standards. Another important aspect is driving the consolidation of tools across the Telia company to enhance efficiency and support future evolution in this area.

Vendor management is a critical responsibility, ensuring alignment with the vendor and sourcing strategy. Moreover, the role requires accountability for the lifecycle management (LCM) of applications and services in scope, securing the sunset of legacy applications, and guiding the evolution of target systems in strong collaboration with the architecture team, business stakeholders, and system vendors. Lastly, it involves managing the competence team in accordance with long-term plans to ensure the development and sustainability of expertise within the organization.

Who we’re looking for

Your personality is characterized by self-motivation and strong leadership, making you a proactive and confident decision-maker. As a team player, you thrive in collaborative environments, while also being outspoken and resilient in driving sustainable solutions and making informed decisions.

Your skills and experience include over five years of leadership experience, with a background in similar roles within larger IT organizations, preferably within a Communication Service Provider. You have experience working in a multi-country operating organizational structure and possess deep insights and understanding of relevant domains, including IT infrastructure, network components such as routing and firewalls, large-scale IT operations, and DevOps ways of working.

Additionally, you have expertise in IT service delivery, including the orchestration of Agile Release Trains (ART). You have a proven track record of consistently delivering key performance indicators (KPIs) that align with industry-leading practices. Furthermore, your communication skills are excellent, both in written and spoken English, with proficiency in a Nordic or Baltic language being an advantage.
