We are seeking a General Manager, Civil Engineering to lead the civil function within Wärtsilä Engine Power Plants Business. This position is based in Vaasa, Finland.
Your role and responsibilities
As a General Manager, Civil Engineering you will lead the civil function within Wärtsilä Engine Power Plants Business, heading the civil project engineering team, civil development team and technical project management for Engine Power Plants project portfolio.
Your work will focus on these responsibilities:
- Develop and provide effective civil engineering solutions, technical (civil) project management, civil and structural expertise and resources for all EPP projects where civil scope is included, or civil support is otherwise required
- Manage the development of competitive civil technical solutions and way of working in co-operation with Wärtsilä Technology, partners, and suppliers
- Head the civil project engineering team and civil development team
- Ensure high quality requirement management to achieve civil technical solutions comply with project contractual and local requirements
- Evaluate and mitigate technical and costing risks on civil side
- Develop delivery readiness for specific countries
- Ensure civil support during sales and participate in customer negotiations when needed
- Engage in execution projects as needed
- Ensure competence development of the team
To be able to succeed in the position, we expect you to have:
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in civil engineering
- Extensive Project management and/or project engineering experience in international project business
- Good knowledge of engine power plant technical solutions and technical standards
- Excellent communication and cooperation skills across functions
- Commitment and enthusiasm to lead a team, ability to engage people with strong teamwork attitude. Leads by example and enables collaboration across organisations
- Drive for performance with an empowering and inspiring attitude
- Business understanding, market and customer understanding
- Excellent planning, execution and problem-solving skills
- Multicultural sensitivity, ability to build relations and lead multi-cultural teams
