Corporate Legal Affairs is looking for a legal professional to join the Corporate Legal Affairs team at the Wärtsilä Headquarters in Helsinki, Finland. The team manages and coordinates a variety of legal matters within the Wärtsilä group, including those in relation to M&A, IPR, competition law, data protection, cyber security, insider administration, group policies and administration.  

Your role and responsibilities  
 
As a Group Legal Counsel, you will work with various legal issues. Your focus will be to support the ICT sourcing team as well as the larger Indirect Procurement organization in their contracting activities. In addition to the supplier and service provider agreements, the work will cover data processing agreements and other privacy-related topics, whenever applicable. In the longer term, the tasks may be adjusted based on your individual skills and interests. You’ll be working as a part of an experienced Corporate Legal Affairs team with diverse expertise. You will report in fixed line to Deputy General Counsel Riitta Hovi, and in dotted line to Senior Group Counsel Pauliina Luukkonen. 
 
Requirements for the position: 

  • A Master’s degree in law 
  • Good knowledge of specific areas of law such as contracts and privacy
  • Ability to operate on a global basis

Qualifications/to be able to succeed in the position we expect you to have: 
 

  • At least 3 years of solid and relevant legal experience in a law firm or a corporation 
  • Good collaboration skills 
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Project management skills
  • Experience in working in a complex international matrix organisation
  • Fluency in English, and other language skills such as Finnish and Swedish are an advantage
  • Proactive working style with a solution-oriented mindset
  • An eye for detail combined with big-picture understanding
  • Ability to work in an international, multicultural environment, prior international work experience will be of advantage
