The position is within the Aalto Center for Qualitative Management Research (or Qual+ for short) at the Department of Management Studies and it involves an intensive collaboration with the Department of Computer Science.

Our expectations

The postdoctoral position is intended for the development of original empirical, methodological, and/or theoretical work related to the responsible use of large language models in the context of qualitative research. The applicant is expected to bring initiative and energy to this emerging research topic and to collaborate with faculty at the Management Studies and Computer Science departments.

We expect the chosen researcher to devote roughly half of the working time to the pursuit of their own research agenda and on-going research projects with existing collaborators. We consider it of utmost importance that the chosen applicant will be able to develop personal competencies during their postdoctoral project with the aim of publishing in the best international venues (journals, conference proceedings) relevant to their research.

The position is associated with a low teaching load of roughly 30-40 hours of classroom teaching per academic year and limited master’s thesis supervision, with opportunities to be involved in doctoral training.

The position requires fluent skills in the English language.

We are looking to hire an early career researcher with knowledge and interest in both qualitative methods and quantitative approaches as well as programming skills in Python.

The post-doctoral researcher is required to be in residence for the duration of the appointment. The starting date of the employment relationship can be negotiated, ideally commencing in August 2025 or earlier.
