Aalto University Summer School targets students, working professionals and life-wide learners who want to combine a short course at Aalto University with a Finnish experience. The Summer School offers multidisciplinary and challenge-based courses in Aalto’s key expertise areas for an international audience. The Summer School is a part of Aalto University’s Lifewide Learning services.

We are looking for three (3) students to work as

Program Assistants

in the Summer School team for summer 2025.

In this position, you will work in an international academic environment to make summer school participants’ experience at Aalto unforgettable. You will work with our enthusiastic team of higher education development specialists and fellow Summer School summer employees.

As a Program Assistant, you get to experience the breadth of our operations, from administrative tasks and assisting teachers and summer school staff with course management to organising social gatherings for visiting summer school students. The role is well suited for someone who likes variety in their work and can take on different projects, both individually and as a part of a team. You are often the first point of contact for our students and teachers, whether online or on campus, and we appreciate fluent communication skills, friendly can-do attitude and taking ownership of the participants’ experience.

According to the relevant skills of the selected candidates other communication or content-creation tasks can be included in the role. If you are interested in tasks in marketing and communications, please attach a sample of your skills to your application. The sample can consist of, for example, a couple of pieces of social media content, photographs, screenshots or text. We hope that you deliver the sample(s) attached to your application as links or a PDF file.

The position is full-time and fixed-term between 2.6.-5.9.2025. Most of the work takes place on the Otaniemi campus and Helsinki Metropolitan Area, but during more silent periods there is an opportunity for remote working in Finland. Due to the schedule of the Summer School social program events and trips, some of the work hours will occur in the evening, especially during July and August. The salary is approximately 2200€ / month (bachelor’s level students) or 2300€ / month (master’s level students).

Key tasks include

  • Planning and organising extracurricular activities, events and trips for summer school students

  • Customer service and supporting incoming students, both online and on campus

  • Enhancing the Summer School customer experience

  • Assisting in administrative tasks

  • Development of the summer school and customised course concepts and processes

  • Assisting in communication and marketing tasks, especially content creation

The program assistants work closely together, which means you will get peer support and an opportunity to divide work tasks according to your areas of expertise. A complementary set of skills between the program assistants will be considered in the recruitment decisions.

What we value

  • Experience in studying or working at Aalto University

  • Fluent written and oral communication skills in English

  • Event organising experience (for example as a volunteer)

  • Coordination and problem-solving skills, an organised way of working

  • Proactivity and collaboration skills

  • International experience (for example exchange studies, studying or working abroad)

  • Customer service experience and positive attitude towards working with a variety of customers

  • Skills in short-form video production, event photography or writing content for digital channels
