We are now looking for a Noise & Vibration Engineer to join our skilled Noise & Vibration Engineering team within Customer Solution Engineering in Power Supply. The team provides support and expertise in all marine projects on Noise and Vibration topics to fulfil Customer requirements during both sales and project execution phases.
The position is permanent, and the location is Vaasa, Sustainable Technology Hub, Finland; we welcome applicants with various levels of experience, as the role can be offered as Noise & Vibration Engineer or Senior Noise & Vibration Engineer.
What you will be doing:
As a Noise & Vibration Engineer, you will be part of a global, innovative and customer-driven organization and you will focus on providing high-level technical support to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the highest standards of performance and satisfaction.
In a typical working day, you could perform Noise and Vibration measurements during the Factory Acceptance Test of one of the quietest generating sets for the most luxurious passenger or research vessels in the maritime industry. On another, you might find yourself presenting to one of our esteemed customers the vibration analysis results and the power transmission component selected for the propulsion system of the cutting-edge hybrid ferry.
Your responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to:
- Participating in delivery project work as a Noise and Vibration Engineer within the project team
- Performing Noise and Vibration measurements during engine factory acceptance tests and in the field
- Performing torsional vibration calculations in both frequency and time domain
- Performing a resilient mounting calculation
- Creating technical specifications according to internal standards
- Delivering detailed calculation and measurement reports to customers and classification societies
- Comparing measurement and calculation results for model validation and calibration
- Providing technical expertise and support to internal and external stakeholders on Noise and Vibration topics
- Contributing to developing new measurement and analysis methodologies
- Contributing to developing new technical solutions together with internal stakeholders and suppliers
- Maintaining positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with the team, partners, and key stakeholders
To be successful in this role, we expect you to hold:
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Mechanical engineering or other equivalent engineering fields
- Strong mathematical and physics background
- Knowledge of dynamics and vibration
- You should also be interested in internal combustion engines
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work in an international environment
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken and solid in MS Office
- Analytical mindset and systematic, proactive and organized way of working
- Willingness to learn, adapt to and develop new technologies
- Good reporting skills
- Attitude to work both independently and in team
The following will be considered an advantage:
- Experience of and interest in engine dynamics
- Vibration measurement practice: Linear, Air Borne Noise, Torsional, Modal;
- Experience with data acquisition system hardware and transducers
- Experience with Torsional Vibration Analysis
- Experience in Finite Element dynamic analysis (with NX/Abaqus/Hypermesh)
- Experience with signal analysis
- Knowledge of most relevant ISO standards on Noise & Vibration topics
- Knowledge of most relevant classification society rules and regulations of ships
- Experience with rubber components
- C#/Visual studio/Matlab programming skills
