We are looking for a Laboratory Engineer with the main responsibility for Optical Spray Combustion Chamber (OSCC) testing in our Research Laboratory. You will be working with fundamental combustion development of sustainable fuels to enable the de-carbonization of the marine and stationary power plant sector.

The location for this position is Vaasa, Finland. The position requires presence onsite.
  
Your role and responsibilities  
 
As an OSCC Laboratory Engineer, you will be working with an optically accessible constant volume pre-combustion test cell used to investigate fuel sprays and their combustion. Apart from performing and participating in the measurement campaigns, your main responsibilities will be to develop, upgrade and rebuild the chamber and auxiliary systems in between the measurement campaigns and projects. The tasks can also be extended based on your individual skills and interests. You’ll be working as a part of an agile and energetic team with diverse expertise around combustion and controls. 
 
Requirements for the position: 

  • BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Proactive and self-motivated personality with excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and self-organize workload effectively
  • Strong safety protocols and zero-accident mindset
  • Proficiency in English; Finnish or Swedish skills are an advantage

 
To be able to succeed in the position, we expect you to have:
 

  • Hands-on experience with optical test rigs
  • Strong practical and troubleshooting skills
  • Analytical thinking, logical reasoning, and a strong technical understanding
  • Curiosity and a willingness to learn from new and unprecedented technical challenges
  • Experience in designing and developing laboratory equipment and systems
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., NX/Teamcenter, AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is an advantage
  • Proficiency in maintaining and calibrating laboratory instruments
