Description of position

Orion’s Procurement organization is looking for a category manager for one of our biggest Indirect spend areas, namely MRO (maintenance, repair and operations), supplies and facilities. This is a 2 year fixed term position to substitute during a job rotation. The location of the position is in Espoo or in Turku.

In this position, you would play a central role in supporting Orion’s manufacturing and facility management in building well-being and ensuring a bright future for Finnish pharmaceuticals. Orion’s Indirect Procurement area is divided into five main procurement areas which are all headed by a category manager. You would be heading a category team of six sourcing managers who would report to you directly. You in turn would report to the Head of Indirect and Sustainable Procurement.

As a category manager, you would be responsible for turning stakeholder targets into strategies and targets fit for your sourcing manager team. You would balance your managerial and team lead role with also being responsible for certain key supplier relationships and strategic sourcing projects. You would also participate development projects and of course support and bring value to your stakeholders.

Description of unit

Indirect Procurement is part of our Supply Chain & Procurement organization. Our Indirect Procurement team is responsible for the strategic procurement of Indirect services & products and is the largest procurement team by spend at Orion. Our procurement function has very strong competences and processes within the areas of sourcing, supplier management, risk management and sustainability.

Our team has a great team spirit where we wish to continuously develop the way we work. Within your role, you would also have the opportunity to further develop core competence areas to ensure best-in-class practices within our procurement function.

Currently, we are focusing on further developing our core procurement processes and governance model as well as ensuring sustainability and compliance throughout. We are also taking steps to develop the digital tools to support our work within strategic procurement.  We aim at ensuring that our procurement professionals are able to develop and future-proof their skillsets.

Requirements

Within Indirect Procurement, our main goal is to support our key stakeholders in reaching their targets. For this to be possible, you need to have a good understanding of stakeholder needs and ways of working in order to combine this with your expertise in the area of strategic procurement. This requires excellent collaboration and networking skills.

The category in questions is very broad, ranging from supplies and services for Orion’s factories, facilites and laboratories, to MRO, technical operations, waste and energy. Previous procurement experience from these areas, especially from energy sourcing (e.g. electricity, energy investments and/or energy as a service) is seen as an asset. Efficient ways of working, prioritization skills as well as communication skills are key within this procurement area. Team leadership and interpersonal skills are also central to this role as you will be leading our largest indirect category.
