Be the future of IT! Are you a student with a passion for Information Technology and an interest in data management? Whether you're just beginning your studies or are further along, we have an opportunity for you. At Aalto University's IT Services, we are looking for a Data Warehouse Engineer to be a part of our Future Talent Program. No prior work experience is needed, but hands-on development experience from schoolwork will be beneficial.

Your role

As a Data Warehouse Engineer in our Future Talent Program, you'll have the unique opportunity to develop and maintain our university’s Data Warehouses, both in on-premises as well as in cloud. You'll work on a wide variety of tasks, from data management and data flows to data models and architectures. You'll get a chance to apply these techniques to solve real-world problems and optimize performance.

The Future Talent Program offers a unique opportunity to learn while implementing and improving various techniques. You'll collaborate with a team of seasoned professionals, receive specific training and possibly work on live projects alongside your studies.

Target profile

We are looking for a student who is either in the early stages of their studies or has more advanced IT field practice. The ideal candidate:

  • Has completed relevant courses at Aalto (or elsewhere).
  • Has a genuine interest and passion for data management and data models.
  • Can demonstrate some experience with hands-on projects or exercises about databases and SQL queries.
  • Has some experience in software development and operational maintenance of systems.
  • Brings an innovative mindset and a willingness to learn.
  • Is interested in learning how to handle data models and data in databases (SQL server, Azure etc)
  • Can create and maintain software documentation.
  • Has native-level spoken and written Finnish, and excellent spoken and written English skills.

Practicalities

You would make a commitment of at least one year. This would involve full-time work over the summer and roughly 30%-time commitment pre- and post-summer (arrangement is flexible based on studies). There is potential for an extension beyond this period.
