Why you should apply

We are seeking a Junior Legal Counsel to join our legal team and work closely alongside our Head of Legal to provide effective support to Yousician’s various stakeholders across a diverse range of topics. In your role, you’ll be tasked with providing legal support across a diverse range of legal topics, including commercial contracts, music licensing, corporate law, as well as advising on current and future business development initiatives. You will actively contribute to enhancing the legal team's processes and ensuring Yousician’s compliance with regulations affecting its business (e.g., GDPR). 

Yousician services cater to a global audience, therefore you will engage with various stakeholders worldwide and delve into the realm of music licensing. Joining our compact legal team will offer you valuable exposure to a wide array of legal issues within a rapidly expanding tech company. If you are passionate about music, technology, and legal matters, this role is ideal for you!

What you’ll do

• Work closely with our business teams to communicate legal concepts effectively and advise the teams about relevant legal issues and risks and help them to develop the business and products;;
• Review, draft, negotiate and manage a range of commercial agreements, such as content and music licensing contracts, SaaS and software licenses, NDAs, consultancy agreements, and other business contracts;
• Review and advise on various regulations affecting Yousician’s business in the fields of data protection and privacy, artificial intelligence, and consumer protection;
• Improve our legal and compliance processes and provide legal training;
• Assist in corporate law related matters;
• Provide day to day legal support to our teams on an as-needed basis.

What you need to succeed

• You have a Master’s Degree in Law;
• You have between 1 - 3 years of post graduate work experience in a law firm or in-house legal department and have provided legal advice in an international setting; 
• You have proven experience in corporate and commercial legal matters; 
• Ideally you have previous experience in legal frameworks applicable to internet, mobile technologies and online advertising;
• You preferably have experience in licensing, intellectual property rights, consumer protection, data privacy regulations and frameworks, and artificial intelligence;
• Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills,  excellent prioritization and time management skills;
• Capability of working independently and with multiple projects simultaneously;
• Practical, proactive and professional approach and strong analytical skills, detail oriented;
• You are fully proficient in English. Proficiency in Finnish is considered an additional merit; and
• A positive, can-do attitude and strong interpersonal skills are a must!
