Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering invites applications for an
ASSISTANT OR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN COMPUTER ENGINEERING (tenure track)
Are you passionate about research and innovation in hardware-accelerated computing?
We are seeking applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor in Computer Engineering. We are looking for candidates to strengthen our research and education in this area. The ideal candidate will have expertise in fields, such as but not limited to, hardware-accelerated computing, heterogeneous architectures, compiler technologies and code generation, or the co-design of software and hardware systems.
In this role, you will advance the integration of hardware and software by developing innovative hardware accelerator technologies to optimize computational performance, energy efficiency, or both.
As a professor in the Department of Information and Communications Engineering (DICE), you will have the opportunity to establish and lead your own research group, supported by a generous starting grant. You will also contribute to teaching in the new English-taught Computer Engineering B.Sc. majorl and the Computer, Communication, and Information Sciences (CCIS) Master’s program. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach courses in key areas such as computer architecture, compilers, and other topics related to hardware and low-level programming. An excellent command of English is required for teaching.
This position is part of Aalto University’s tenure track system and will be filled either the assistant or associate professor level. The contract can be fixed term or permanent, depending on the professor's level. The Department of Information and Communications Engineering (DICE) comprises 20 professors and is organized into research clusters focused on Human-Centric Technology, Communication and Networked Systems, and the Fundamentals of Information and Communications Engineering. At DICE, you will have numerous opportunities to connect computer engineering with areas such as signal processing, machine learning, communications engineering, and networking technologies. The department is located on Aalto University's Otaniemi campus in Espoo, part of the Helsinki metropolitan area, which is the largest ICT industry hub in Finland, fostering strong interactions and collaborations with industrial partners.
The School of Electrical Engineering has excellent laboratory facilities including the Aalto Electronics-ICT laboratory and the Aalto Next G campus network, enabling you to conduct hands-on experimental research.
