We are now looking to welcome an enthusiastic (Senior) Service Engineer, Mechanical to our skilled Field Service Resources team in Global Expert Operations. The role is offered as a permanent contract and the preferred location is Turku, Finland, but other Wärtsilä locations in Finland can also be considered. We welcome applicants at various levels of seniority, as the position can be offered as Service Engineer or Senior Service Engineer.
What will you be doing?
As a (Senior) Service Engineer, Mechanical, your daily work will revolve around executing Field Service activities in accordance with Wärtsilä quality on marine and land-based installations with the newest Wärtsilä engines and equipment, providing technical expertise for our customers and ensuring customer satisfaction.
In this exciting role, you'll have the opportunity to work internationally and travel the world for various service jobs for approximately 150 – 220 days per year. Therefore, we are looking for candidates who are ready and willing to travel, who possess a strong Field Service mindset.
For us to be the best match, we expect you to have technical experience in marine engineering and proven expertise in 4-stroke marine diesel engine operations, maintenance, and repairs. As an ideal candidate, you will also have a safety-first attitude, along with critical thinking and reasoning skills.
Your responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to:
- Pre-commissioning and commissioning of Wärtsilä equipment with the latest automation and electrical technologies for marine and power plant installations.
- Troubleshooting by identifying failures, adjusting and testing of installations, according to instructions and expected performance requirements.
- Performing installation audits at various land and sea-based installations.
- Preparing service reports and travel expenses on time in accordance with expected Wärtsilä quality.
- Participating in and contributing to improvement of new products when performing warranty activities.
- Proactively consulting, advising, and promoting available Wärtsilä solutions and products to customers.
- Ensuring customer satisfaction through performance and positive interactions with customers.
- Conforming with and abiding by Wärtsilä QEHS guidelines, regulations, site procedures, and policies.
- Adhering to all safety rules and using all appropriate safety equipment.
The below will enable you to succeed in this role:
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, similar relevant technical educational background, or qualifications as a combination of education and experience.
- Significant experience with marine installation operations, maintenance, and repairs.
- Knowledge of and experience with 4-stroke marine engines.
- Experience with creating technical reports.
- Strong practical problem-solving skills and a solution-oriented mindset, along with the ability to adjust and adapt when faced with a challenge.
- Highly effective technical communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Resourcefulness and ability to work independently as well as in close cooperation with your team.
- Proficient English language skills, both written and verbal.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel globally for service jobs, approximately 150-220 days per year.
- A safety-first mindset.
