Description of position
As a specialist in biophysics within our Structural Biology and Analytics unit, you will be at the forefront of utilizing techniques such as SPR, DLS, nanoDSF, TSA, and ITC. Your role will involve studying the kinetic and thermodynamic properties of protein-protein, and protein-ligand interactions.
This role is permanent and it is located in Espoo, Finland.
Description of unit
The Structural Biology and Analytics unit is part of the Medicine Design in Innovative Medicines Business Division. We provide analytical support for medicinal chemistry activities and focus on hit finding, understanding modes of action, and protein-ligand interactions. Our on-site capabilities include MS and NMR, are complemented by external collaborations for techniques like cryoEM and X-ray.

Requirements
Practical skills with biophysical methods especially SPR but also DLS, nanoDSF, and TSA are mandatory. Having utilized these techniques with membrane proteins or protein complexes or in studding covalent modulators is a big plus.
The candidate’s special focus will be execution of experiments and data analysis as well as communicating the results to the project team.
The candidate shall have a good knowledge of protein handling & production and must be able to discuss in multidisciplinary project teams the results and the impact of the results on drug design. A good network within the biophysical community around the world is a big plus.
A PhD degree in biochemistry, biophysics or a comparable discipline with working experience on biophysics is required.
