Aalto University Service Points team/Starting Point is hiring

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ADVISORS

for our International Student Peer Support Advice.

We will hire four advisors to work part-time (25%=9h a week) during the period of 4.11.2024-31.7.2025.

Aalto University’s Starting Point team is launching a new service for our international bachelor’s and master’s students. Our aim is to provide peer support and advising to our international students by advisors who themselves have experienced the process of moving to Finland and starting their studies at Aalto University. With this service we are looking to give more profound support and encountering to our newly admitted and current international degree students.

For this service, we need the expertise of our very own international students. With the support of Starting Point’s staff, the international student advisors will:

  • Encounter our international students and provide advice and support on campus.
  • Advise our international students by email.
  • Revise current guides and instructions for students and gather new information relevant for international students.
  • Help Starting Point’s staff with administrative tasks such as managing tuition fee payments and annual enrolment processes.

The work of an international student advisor is both independent and teamwork. We are looking for advisors who are currently studying a bachelor’s or master’s degree at Aalto University and have moved to Finland from abroad for these studies. Our goals is to put together a diverse team. The advisors need to be helpful, have a proactive attitude and time-management skills. The administrative part of the work requires precision and understanding for the importance of guidelines. An excellent command of written and spoken English is required. Prior experience in customer service or university administration will be considered an advantage.

The International Student Peer Support and Advice Service will have specific opening hours 2-3 times a week and the advisors will always have the support of the Starting Point staff on site. We are offering an opportunity for our international students to gain experience in university administration and services. The student advisors will have a role in developing our student services and they get to encounter students and help them as peers. We will train our advisors and provide them support throughout their employment with us.

Please submit your application with your CV and motivation letter through our recruitment system by August 31st.

For further enquiries, please contact Starting Point’s coordinator, Specialist Evi Lemström, evi.lemstrom(at)aalto.fi.
