We are seeking a Senior C++ Software Developer to join us in developing our globe-spanning Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) solution. Position information:

This permanent position is located in Helsinki, Finland. We act globally, from the Americas to Europe, Singapore, and Australia. We're looking for individuals who can work independently when required and communicate asynchronously between sites. In practice, this means excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in the design and development of software solutions for VTS
• Participate in the design of software architecture centred around microservices, deployment, containerisation, integrations to systems in the marine ecosystem and solutions that will scale, and adapt to business needs both on the cloud and on-prem
• Research emerging technologies, industry trends, and methodologies and make proposals of benefits and costs to decision-makers and watch as theory becomes practice
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams through Agile methodologies to design and implement solutions for complex maritime challenges
• Mentor junior developers, sharing your knowledge and ensuring that future generations of developers will practice and propagate this knowledge

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field or equivalent
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on C++ on Windows (VS) and a good understanding of SW patterns. TCP, UDP and socket programming. Conan and Qt. Competence with Git. Good communication skills in English
• Any of the following experience is considered a plus: C++ on Linux, Perl, Docker, Github action, scripting, C#, SQL. Experience with TypeScript, .NET, Angular or web technologies in general is considered a significant plus
• The ability to communicate abstract concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience in the maritime industry, particularly in port operations or maritime logistics, would be highly beneficial. Knowledge of supply chain and logistical industry practices is also advantageous
• Experience with designing and configuring solutions for both on-premises and Azure cloud deployments, including infrastructure setup, networking configurations, security protocols, and deployment strategies, is considered a significant plus
