Trainees For Sustainability Action Booster



Sustainability Action Booster is a new fund created to support students to unleash their ideas, energy, and enthusiasm for a sustainable future. We want to make sure that Aalto University students have more opportunities to initiate and participate in student-led sustainability activities on campus and beyond! Action by action, students are also creating their own sustainability culture at Aalto University.
We are now looking for two student trainees to work two part-time on the project.
PR and communications trainee
Your main duties and goals will be:

Together with the project team, ideate and later independently implement, active ways to promote the Sustainability Action Booster grant for Aalto University students

Document the student-owned action ideas that have received the funding, in relevant contexts whenever something cool is happening

Ideate and produce content about the actions to our website and other suitable platforms, to ensure our community (and beyond!) gets to hear about the inspirational sustainability actions
We are looking for an Aalto University student who has:
-
Some experience in student culture at Aalto University
-
Enthusiasm to try, ideate and implement versatile means of communication that can promote Sustainability Action Booster (SoMe content, short news, etc.)

The courage and readiness to promote the grant for students by attending, i.e., to various kinds of events
-
Readiness to produce and create visual material (e.g., document granted student actions at the campus by taking photos and producing short video material for communication needs)

Ability to take responsibility and work independently, as well as a team player with positive and innovative mindset
-
Good command of written and spoken English
Application management trainee
With the support of the project team, you will:
-
Run the application process: make sure that the collection, validation, and decision processes are flowing timely
-
Monitor the budget
-
Guide the students in their application process when needed
-
Follow the implementation of the granted actions and make sure that the follow-up work, such as reporting of realized expenses and the necessary cleaning, is handled in accordance with the fund's instructions
We are looking for an Aalto University student who has:

Good command of written and spoken English and Finnish (Swedish knowing is an advantage)

Ability to take responsibility and work independently, as well as a team player with positive and innovative mindset
-
Open, communicative, and people oriented
-
Readiness to ideate and take action if there are no applications coming through
We also appreciate:

Experience in application process management and customer service

Interest towards university administration and governance
In both positions, it helps you to succeed and enjoy the work, if you are passionate about students' sustainability-related ideas, experiments, and solutions. Some experience in organization or voluntary work is also an advantage. The target group for your work is Aalto University students.
Your network and team
Solutions for Sustainability team is part of Aalto University’s Leadership Support Services (LSS). We are supporting our diverse community at an operational level in implementing Aalto University strategy and creating solutions that enable a sustainable future within planetary boundaries. As a student trainee, you will collaborate tightly with our diverse university community, get to participate in the project’s steering group, work with inspiring people, and get to influence the development of the project by sharing your ideas too!
More information on the positions
These are part-time (40-50 %) fixed-term student positions with a starting date as soon as possible (date and weekly hours of working time negotiable). The employment contract will be made until 31.12.2023 and working with a higher percentage during the summer is a possibility.
The salary is 980–1150 €/month (with 50 % work time), depending on your experience and level of studies. Your working hours will be flexible and thus well combinable with your studies. In addition, you will have access to Aalto employee perks and benefits like, for example, occupational health care and staff training.
