Wärtsilä Energy Business is looking for a Legal Counsel to join its Energy Services legal team in Finland.

Energy Services provides lifecycle services and solutions to power plant owners globally and the Energy Services Legal & Compliance team is accountable for securing commercially oriented and timely legal support for the Energy Services business globally. We are currently 6 legal counsels across 3 continents, and we now have a new vacancy due to increased business volumes. 

As Legal Counsel in the Energy Services legal team, you will handle various types of legal and compliance matters for the Energy Services business. You will also contribute to developing new business and new business concepts, including our decarbonisation services. In this position, you will be part of a global legal team and report to the Head of Legal, Energy Services in Wärtsilä Energy Business. The preferred locations are Vaasa or Helsinki, Finland. 
 
What are your main responsibilities? 

  • Provide commercially oriented and solution-based legal support and compliance advice in all operative business matters
  • Review, negotiate, draft, and advise on, various types of transactions and commercial contracts
  • Support the business in the development and implementation of business models and concepts
  • Support compliance and governance management in the business
  • Manage claims and disputes
  • Provide training to the business on relevant legal and compliance issues
  • Actively participate in the development and implementation of policies, work processes and templates

What do we expect from you?


Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years work experience in either an in-house or a private practice role
  • Relevant experience includes corporate and commercial transactions in an international environment 
  • A law degree from a relevant jurisdiction

Other skills:

  • Excellent command of English, both written and oral
  • Solid drafting, presentation, and communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills and ability to manage a variety of stakeholder networks
  • Good time management skills: ability to navigate through different priorities
  • Business-oriented mindset with the ability to provide sound legal solutions with an optimal risk-reward balance
  • You understand how legal solutions and guidance impact the financial results
  • Team-oriented with a positive and flexible attitude
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural organisation and virtual teams
  • Readiness to travel
