The Faculty of Pharmacy ranked #46 in the world in the ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2020. It is located at Viikki Campus in Helsinki and provides good access to local and national research infrastructures including biobanks. It has about 200 employees, out of which 15 professors, and about 800 undergraduate and 160 postgraduate students with well-organized doctoral school programs.

LABORATORY COORDINATOR
The appointment is fixed term until the end of August 2023, starting as soon as possible. The position will be filled with 6 months probationary period.
The duties of the laboratory coordinator include coordinating and supporting the laboratory activities of the Bioactivity Screening Group (https://www2.helsinki.fi/en/researchgroups/bioactivity-screening) and the DDCB core facility at the Faculty of Pharmacy (https://www2.helsinki.fi/en/infrastructures/drug-discovery-chemical-biol...). The primary activities of the position include, but are not limited to:
• Scientific laboratory support for ongoing projects, incl. planning and execution of experiments and data analysis and reporting
• Managing laboratory automation and screening equipment
• Maintenance of laboratory, cell culture and microbial collections, and equipment
The laboratory coordinator will work independently as well as closely with the researchers and the core facility staff. We expect training and experience in an applicable field, such as pharmacy, microbiology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or molecular biology as well as accuracy, reliability and ability to work systemically, both independently and as part of a research team. Experience in microbiology, cell culture, biochemical and molecular biology techniques, microscopy and laboratory automation are highly appreciated. We also expect good written and verbal communication skills (in English and preferably also in Finnish), excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills and unprejudiced approach.
The salary is based on the job requirement scheme for specialist and support staff according to the salary system of the Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work performance. The requirement level of the position is 7. In total, the gross salary is about 2500-2800 EUR per month depending on the qualifications and merits of the applicant.
