Are you a specialist of logistics with good people skills? Do you want to challenge your expertise in our versatile global projects?  We are looking for a Shipping Engineer to join our PAP Finland Logistics team for one year fixed-term employment.

As a Shipping Engineer your main responsibility is to plan and coordinate project shipments from various origins to Valmet’s end customers globally. You collaborate with forwarding companies, carriers, global Valmet locations and suppliers of goods. You take care of shipping scheduling and loading planning to secure the material flow of the project to mill sites and end customers. You also support sales and supply planning process with your input on estimated shipping costs and lead times to enable a development of cost efficient delivery plans.

Your main responsibilities also include:

• Working out developed ways of packing and loading of the products in co-operation with engineering
• Issuing and updating Shipping Plans for named delivery projects according to project schedules and project requirements
• Participating in project shipping RFQ:s and negotiations
• Operational shipping duties including transport bookings and shipping documentation
• Operational progress reporting (e.g. shipment statuses, costs estimations)

We hope you have good communication, co-operation and interpersonal skills. Understanding customer needs and their business requirements, both internal and external, is essential in the role. Problem solving is something that you excel and enjoy. Our working environment is sometimes unpredictable so an ability to act fast and work also under pressure is valued.

To be successful in this position, you would also need to have:

• Degree in Technical or Logistics studies; earlier work experience preferred
• Good knowledge of shipping and different modes of transportation
• Good loading planning skills (trailers, containers, oversized cargo)
• Basic knowledge in commercial and trade terms
• Fluent in Finnish and English, both spoken and in writing, other languages beneficial
