The group of Sara Wickström is looking for a

ERC-Funded Computational Biologist / Bioinformatician

for 2 years fixed term starting from 1.10.2019 with possibility of extension

We are seeking a talented, highly motivated individual with a background in Computational Biology/Bioinformatics. The Wickström lab is world-renown for its research on stem cell mechanics and niche biology. The lab continues to develop and apply cutting-edge high-throughput techniques to address challenging questions regarding the roles of mechanical forces in chromatin organization and gene expression in stem cells.

Candidates should have either a Master or PhD degree in a relevant quantitative science field (bioinformatics, computational science, physical science, etc.). A successful candidate should have experience in the analysis of large-scale “omic” data sets, particularly NGS data sets. Candidates also should have experience working on Linux-type servers and with programming languages (e.g. Python, R, Perl, etc.). A basic knowledge of statistics and biology is required. The position offers an opportunity to work with a dedicated and international group of scientists and participate in research combining genomics, proteomics, and quantitative imaging datasets. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. The working language of the group is English and no knowledge of the Finnish language are required.
