POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER IN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS (2 years)

The Department of Management Studies of Aalto University School of Business seeks applications for a two-year position as a Postdoctoral Researcher in International Business, starting in the fall 2019.

The position is within the International Business discipline in the Department of Management Studies at Aalto University School of Business. The International Business Group is strongly dedicated to research and strives to be the leading International Business Unit in Europe.  We conduct research on topics such as strategy and structure of multinational corporations, relocation of headquarters, people management, sustainability in international business, multilingual organizations, emerging markets, international entrepreneurship and qualitative research methods. Our researchers publish in leading IB and management journals such as JIBS, AMR, JMS, and JWB among others. In the latest 3-year global ranking produced by Korea University Business School, our research in the area of International Business and Strategy was ranked 12th in the world (https://kubsrankings.korea.ac.kr). Requirements

The post-doctoral researcher will be working on a research project that focuses on the concept of location in international business studies. The project aims at uncovering the multifaceted meaning of location, particularly perceptual aspects, which have received limited attention to date. It seeks to provide an integrative theoretical framework on the shifting meaning of firm location and its implications for policy makers. The project has received funding for four years from the Academy of Finland and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation in Finland.

The overarching aim of the project is to break new ground by generating theoretical and empirical understanding that better corresponds with the reality facing internationally operating firms. The postdoctoral researcher is expected to participate in a) theoretically framing the project; 2) collecting empirical data for the project; and 3) publishing the results of the project in leading academic journals. We welcome expertise in different theoretical perspectives and research methods.

We seek to hire an academically ambitious junior scholar who is completing or has recently completed their Ph.D. in IB or a related discipline. We prefer candidates that demonstrate great potential for conducting high quality research and for publishing in the leading academic journals in the field.

The maximum teaching load of the position is one course per year. In addition, the postdoctoral researcher is expected to serve as a PhD thesis advisor for one the PhD student majoring in IB as a junior member of a Ph.D. advisory committee.
