We are now seeking a Systems Engineer to work in our Digital Engineering team. Digital Engineering is a strategically important team within Wärtsilä, responsible for developing and rolling out the hardware, software and data capabilities for Wärtsilä’s next generation of products.

 

This role is key to Wärtsilä’s ability to deploy digitally enabled products effectively. This is a new programme of activity, working with a talented, experienced team from across different domains, and expected to grow rapidly.  A key part of the role is in shaping the technologies, processes and ways of working to help Wärtsilä manage digital deployments at scale – there are a lot of challenges to be faced, and we don’t know how to address them all yet!

 

The position is based in Helsinki and occasional travel may be required.

 

What does a Systems Engineer do?

 

A Systems Engineer’s role is to support and complete customer deliveries from the planning phase to finalization. In practice, this means tasks such as:
• preparing installation specific configuration and documentation
• preparing software deliveries
• troubleshooting SW and HW issues
• data processing and validation

In addition, together with your teammates, you will work towards improving our way of working (processes, tool development etc.) to make the above tasks smoother going forward.

 

What kind of skills does a Systems Engineer need?

 

To be successful in this role, you should already know:
• Linux command line skills are a must.  Scripting skills are appreciated.
• Networking knowledge
• Python scripting 

 

You should also have:
• A customer oriented mindset
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Team working skills

 

We appreciate experience in the following tasks and tools: AutoCAD, SW / HW testing, embedded software, XML and data analysis. In case you’re not yet proficient, you will learn!

 

While on the job, you will have a front row seat to learn about 
• utilizing big data to support data-driven decision making
• the world of data processing and validation flow 
• digitalization of the marine and energy industries 

 

We value education and for this position a Bachelor of Engineering with relevant studies is preferred or equivalent experience.
