Wärtsilä Marine Power, R&D and Engineering is looking for a Senior Design Engineer to develop new design solutions for 4-stroke engines together with experienced R&D engineers. Location for this position is primarily Turku, Finland. Other possible location is Vaasa, Finland and Trieste, Italy.

In this position, you will be participating into new engine development as well as customer delivery engine design with a good perspective to high technology solutions of medium speed reciprocating engines. We provide a good opportunity to learn and grow in design area. Design tasks will give you a large variety of different engine systems and components focusing on diesel, gas and multifuel 4-stroke engines for Marine and Energy solutions with a view to decarbonization technologies.
  
Your Role
 

Accountabilities:

  • Preparing documentation for large design projects according to given plans and timetables
  • Delivering agreed content of work package with quality on agreed budget and schedule
  • Accountable for quality of predefined work package (i.e. drawings & related modules)

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare design for development projects 
  • Deliver work packages in given timetable with planned boundaries
  • Report progress of activities to Design Manager
  • Collect feedback systematically to the responsible parties
  • Check drawings and documents
  • Ensure quality, reliability and cost-efficient functionality of designs and solutions 
  • Seek for new technological solutions and prepares the design proposal accordingly
  • Ensure that new designs and solutions are benchmarked
  • Cooperate with other organizations, give technical support to internal stakeholders 

Requirements for the position:

  • Good skills in Siemens Teamcenter and NX modelling and analysis
  • Good skills in MS Office
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and cooperation skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Actively improve your own skills
  • Hands-on mentality and a structured way of working
  • Readiness to occasional travelling to production sites, suppliers or customers

                                                                                                                                                                             
Qualifications/to be able to succeed in the position we expect you to have: 

  • Education: M.Sc or B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering or similar
